Thank China Glaze Its Friday

I am so releived today is over. Dobby is thankfully home and safe. He is a tad drowsy, but he is begging for food which can only be a good thing. His legs aren't working quite right and he appears to have been given a sack and crack, but hey, its a dogs life.

Another polish today in pink for the Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Because life has been stressful we have unusually for me a plain manicure today. Its China Glaze 'Good Witch' which appears to be the less popular sister of 'Ruby Pumps' But, I absolutely adore it. Its light, but has fantastic darker sparkly specks which just twinkle in the background. Can't believe this has stayed untried for so long. I may need to buy the rest of the Wizard of Oooh's and Aah's set now!

Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No its ANOTHER pink manicure!

Before we start, can I admit I adore this mani? The No17 polish is something I have had for a long time, its called 'Love' and it was here before my long term polish addiction started. I have had it about 18 months and it needed a bit of seche restore, but, it was as good as new and the application is wonderful.

The top coat is China Glaze 'Luxe and Lush' from the Hunger Games collection. I didn't buy any of this collection originally, but I was tipped off to them being on sale at Sallys by someone on the forum and that was that. 8 of the babies were mine. I am SO pleased I got this top coat. It is lush, it looks like little bit of mirrors which are chipped up and dropped into polish. So pretty I could eat it all up!

Tomorrow will be a hard day. Master Dobbert the cockapoo is due to have the snip to prevent him being a baby daddy ( and to stop him humping my sisters leg). However, I am having kittens at leaving him and I am bound to spend the whole day worrying until he is back home again. Wish me luck ladies, its going to be a rough one.

Why is my tip wear so horrible?

 I haven't put a nice big picture at the top of my post, because these nails just don't cut the mustard.

I have used models own magenta divine glitter with a china glaze black crackle topcoat. Even with tip wrap this just sucked back from the tips of my nails like chavs from a naked flame.

Other than this the mani looked amazing and would look great on a night out. I am open to any ideas.

Half Moon Fail

I like half moons, I think they can look really effective and pretty. This mani didn't start life as a half moon. I wanted to use Models Own Copper Pot with Copper Glitter over the top. But when I looked at them I didn't get it, so I decided to use something else over the top. This is where the disaster occurred.

Somewhere in my little head I thought the perfect partner was China Glaze 'Electrify' I must admit it was dark, and my eyes aren't the best. But the next morning I was not impressed.  The colours were just so close but not the same so they didn't gel.

However, I am not one to hide my failures, so thought you would all like a giggle. Next time I will put Electrify over black, I think that would be the perfect partner.

I'm Loud I'm Proud, Get Used to Me

I am unfortunate enough to come from a town where the EDL are protesting today. For people who don't know these people coin themselves as the 'English Defence League' and they are against radical islamist. However, when you read more into them they seem to hate anyone they don't consider belongs in the UK.

I don't like people like this, and I don't want to be associated with them. I firmly beleive that we should live and let live. I don't care where someone comes from, I don't care what they beleive in. I like nice people, and that comes top on my list. So, in defence of my little down I have been trying to let @Official_EDL aware of my thoughts on twitter. At least it has kept me amused for the morning.

As we live near the centre of town I can tell that the Police helicopter has just arrived and is hovering over the town centre. Lets just hope no one has got hurt. Hate really isn't worth it.

Anyway, onto better things. These are my lovely nails. After the brightness of yesterday I wanted something more muted, but just as beautiful, so I have cracked out my stamping plates to great effect. The base is three coats of China Glaze Hook and Line and I have used DRK A and Konad Special Paint in Black over the top. Think the effect is lovely, but very muted. I wonder what it would look like matte?

So goodbye from me for today. Lets hope the EDL don't come to a town near you soon.

Update - I couldn't resist and matted the polish with Leighton Denny Make it Matter and I adore it. It looks like fabric instead of polish. I LOVE IT

New Beginnings

After yesterday being suitably sombre I decided that today should represent new life, and what better new life than flowers.

I lurve daisys, they are just so pretty and beautiful and simple, so here they are adorning my nails. Must admit this mani got quite a few compliments as I went about my day and I would love to do it again.

I used China Glaza Kiwi Cool Ada as the base, with the middle dot being made from Barry M 134 Yellow and the white dots using Rimmel French Tip White.

Don't forget, we have the Pinktober challenge coming up for Breast Cancer. Can't wait to have a whole month of pink. Its like I have landed in heaven.

Rainbow Nails

I was supposed to post these blogs weeks ago for the MSE - now NPAA challenge. But, unfortunately life got ahead of me and I had to focus on other things. But these darlings deserve an airing.

It is a water marble I did onto plastic again, and used lots of different brands. I think it looks adorable.

31 Day Nail Challenge #18 half moons

The most difficult thing about this manicure was getting hold of the ring binder reinforcements. They just don't seem to sell them anywhere anymore. I had to make do with french manicure guides, which I used upside down, but I think the overall effect is good and looked quite nice. It actually disappointed me when I had to take this off.

The polishes I have used are China Glaze Towel Toy Boy for the half moon, and Kiko 383 Ink Blue for the covering colour. I think the two go quite well together. I think I will call this one a success! (unsual for me)

BFF Challenge - Coffee

I properly drew a blank with this challenge. All I could think was to make my nails look like coffee beans, and that wasn't very inventive. I looked through my stash and found China Glaze, Ingrid, which is the most wonderful deep coffee with a lovely gold glint in certain lights. I knew this was the one.

It is very plain and simple, but I kinda like it that way.

Neon Lights are Shining Bright - BFF Challenge

I love neon nail varnish. Infact the first varnish I brought last year after years on the waggon was a toma which was such a florescent pink it almost looked a little blue. Unfortunately that one died in a tragic accident on holiday in Fuerteventura where it was left in the sun and turned into more of a sticky lump than varnish.

My love for Neon's is so great that it took me ages to get this one right as I just wanted it to be amazing. In the end I settled with a skittle look using 5 different polishes and to make it stand out even more I put a stamp across the top using my DRK-A plate.

The polishes I have used are

Middle - Color Club - Raspberry Scented
Ring - Nina Ultra Pro - Blu Blaze
Little - China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy.

Without blowing my own trumped I LOVE how this has turned out.

BFF Challenge : 80's

I have been completely neglectful of things this week and missed out on a challenge, and I really apologise to the BFF ladies because it isn't normally like me. But in my defence work is absolutely awful and there are extended family stresses which just mean I have to put my efforts in other directions.

However, this morning I set myself up nicely. I was up with Dobby the wonderhound at 0630. By 0645 I was back on the sofa, he was interested in walking around the room with a plantpot on his head, and I painted my nails! Yay.

I have moved straight onto the 80's theme, and will catch up with punk over the next few days. Its all go in this house, I can tell you!

So...

I recently had a gift with purchase from Barry M which was a retro polish. I chose a magnificent electric blue, and decided this was the way to go for the start of the manicure. But, I wouldn't be happy with just plain blue nails, and originally was going to try for cerise tips because that colour and combination was oh so eighties to me. Then I saw a picture of a manicure where someone had coloured the inside tips of her nails and put the pink there instead.

Now, it was successful as in it worked, and I think it looks quite nice, but the pink needed to be brighter and more opaque. But, it is a strange feeling as its almost like you have something stuck down your nails ALL the time. I would try it again though. Just with a brighter interior colour.
