BFF Challenge - City

I have approached this one a little differently. I wanted to do a skyline, but, time ran away with me and to do it well I couldn't do it in the time. So, Instead I used my Color Club Raspberry Scented Neon along with Barry M Silver Hexagons.

I brought the Color Club polish in NYC when I was there last, and the Silver Hexagons remind me of all the lights at night sparking away. I think the effect is good and it smelt delicious, even though a coat of Seche Vite.

BFF Challenge - Texture and awesome nail mail

Must admit the texture challenge had me stumped for days, i just didn't know what to do. I did dabble with a glitter gradient, but it just wasn't getting me. Then I was going to do a ciate style caviar manicure, but to be honest it looked pants and I hate the way there are gaps. So I used the balls to go on like studs in a leather jacket. But instead of a leather jacket I used my new Kiko Duochrome pinky/gold. Must admit I am completely in love with the results.

What do you think?

Sally Of Nail Pron

In addition to the lovely nails I have received some fabby nail mail. Last weekend I got a few Sally Hansen Insta-dri's from a £1 shop near me. They were such a joy to apply and to use I had a scout on the internet and found some more of the lovelies. Also, they are good to stamp with :) So, I got the following shades!

From left to right : Grape Going!, Lively Lilac, Presto Pink, Instant Iris, Flashy Fuchsia, Speedy Sunburst, Magenta Motion and Wined Up

From left to right : Petal Pusher, Slick Slate, Quick Sand, Essie Ridge Filling Basecoat, Silver Sweep, Golden Flash and Metallic Moment

Finally there was Whirlwind White, Blue Streak and Blue Brisk.

I paid £1.50 each for the Sally Hansen's and £2.50 for the base coat from http://www.fragrancedirect.co.uk and the postage was only £2.99 for first class and my order from Thursday night arrived this morning (Saturday). Would thoroughly recommend them for anyone interested. They have lots of discounted brands. ( even Butter London for £9.99)

BFF Challenge - Coffee

I properly drew a blank with this challenge. All I could think was to make my nails look like coffee beans, and that wasn't very inventive. I looked through my stash and found China Glaze, Ingrid, which is the most wonderful deep coffee with a lovely gold glint in certain lights. I knew this was the one.

It is very plain and simple, but I kinda like it that way.

BFF Challenge, Black and White

I have a bit of love for black and white polish. So I was chuffed to have this come up again so soon. Doubled with the fact last night my husband actually paid attention to one of my nail plates and announced it should be done in black and white. I listened, and here it is.

I have used Barry M Multi Glitter in Black and Konad Special White polish.

BFF Challenge : Music

I struggled with this challenge, mainly because I wanted to do something more than just a stamp. But I was saved because my new nail varnishes arrived and they included a duo called Romeo and Julia.

You may know from my last blog I have been feeling a little introspective at the moment and the varnishes reminded me of a song my Dad loved when I was little. It isn't the best song in the world, but just hearing it makes me remember happier times. The song is Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straits, and here are the pictures of my manicure. ( and a cheeky link to the video)

Neon Lights are Shining Bright - BFF Challenge

I love neon nail varnish. Infact the first varnish I brought last year after years on the waggon was a toma which was such a florescent pink it almost looked a little blue. Unfortunately that one died in a tragic accident on holiday in Fuerteventura where it was left in the sun and turned into more of a sticky lump than varnish.

My love for Neon's is so great that it took me ages to get this one right as I just wanted it to be amazing. In the end I settled with a skittle look using 5 different polishes and to make it stand out even more I put a stamp across the top using my DRK-A plate.

The polishes I have used are

Thumb - Absolute! Purple
Index - China Glaze - Turned Up Turquoise
Middle - Color Club - Raspberry Scented
Ring - Nina Ultra Pro - Blu Blaze
Little - China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy.

Without blowing my own trumped I LOVE how this has turned out.

BFF Bloggers Challenge - Animals

Well, this is a favourite topic of mine. After years and years of wanting and needing I now have my very own fur baby. He is called Dobby and he is a now 15 week old Cockapoo puppy ( cocker spaniel/miniature poodle). I will freely admit I never knew how much work a puppy would be, but I wouldn't change him, or a minute of it for the world.

So, when it comes to an animals challenge this can be the only answer. Before the pictures of nails, this little fella is Dobby. ( covered in dog bubbles)

For this I have used,
- NYC City Blackout
- Unnamed Brown Jelly ( because although he is back, he has tinges of brown around him)
- DRK-A for the puppy prints
- Konad Special polish in white for the paw prints and the hand drawn heart (because I loves him)

BFF 3rd Challenge - Striping Tape

Oh striping tape, how you annoy me striping tape.

To be honest this challenge didn't start well when my puppy ate the striping tape. I don't know why he thought it was a good idea, but he is little and obviously a little crazy. However, he has done very pretty sparkly poo's since!

So onto the real challenge. I have a problem getting striping tape to stick to me, as it seems to want to stick anywhere other than me. So I decided I would use it as a border, and if it is going to be a border it best be between my two most favourite colours which is Leighton Denny Tiny Wine-ey with a tip of China Glaze Love Marilyn.

I am really pleased with the result, although I must admit I picked/bit the striping tape off within about 20 mins of being at work!

BFF Nail Polish Challenge - Day 2 - Girlie

After the past option I was quite happy to go for this one, although I have spent all day thinking about what to do because there is so much darn choice.

So, I have decided to go with pink, and a side portion of pink. Just to ensure the girlie factor is 100%, and to make it just a little bit more obvious I have added a flower stamp. Yeah.

So, here goes..

BFF Polish Challenge - Challenge 1 - Cartoon Nails

After loving the MSE and the Polishaholics challenge so much I jumped straight in when the call went out to have an eight week challenge with some of the girls there. It was decided that we would have two challenges a week, and each of the eight members have picked two themes.

Our first theme is cartoons which is a difficult one for me because I haven't watched a cartoon in about 20 years and never ever do nail art like this. I decided my theme would be something I knew and went for Minnie Mouse because she was even around when I was a girl!

The colours I have used are Essie - Tiny Wine-ey, NYC City Blackout, Rimmel Nail Tip Whitener and Hits Speciallita Powder Puff Girls Doce de leite.

I am quite impressed with the end result, ( other than my pointer which looks naff). So without further ado here are the pictures so you can make your own minds up!

Sally Of Nail Pron

I have already been challenged by someone at work to do spongebob nails, but that will have to wait until the next round of challenges.

So do you think I have done okay?
