MSE Nail Art Challenge - 1st Week - Red Nails

Buoyed up with enthusiasm a few of us girls from the MSE nail polish addicts thread ( http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3779621) decided to do our own little challenge. So, we are taking the 31 day challenge a little more leisurely at 1 challenge a week.

This week is red, so to do something different I decided to have a half shiny, half matte finish.

I started with a wonderful coat of Revlon Cherry Crush as it is such a rich red, then taped the middle of my fingers using french manicure stickers. Then, I painted everything below the line with Rimmell Matte finish. I am quite pleased with the result, but think it would have looked even better with a colour which showed the difference more. Maybe on top of a neon?

What do you think?

Rainbow Nails challenge, day 1 - Red

It is the first time I have taken part in anything like this, but I quite fancied the challenge. So, here is my attempt.

I decided to do the most red thing I could imagine, so started with a layer of China Glaze Ruby Pumps on all my fingers, but wanted to do something a bit more special as in such good company even Ruby pumps wouldn't cut it. So, I have done a feature nail on my ring finger with China Glaze 'Love Marilyn' which I absolutely adore. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I have!

Roll on day 2...

So Many Polishes, So Little Time!

I cannot believe it has been a month since my last post, and such alot has happened in this time. I had so many good intentions, but within two days my sister broke her leg and is in a cast and I had a new puppy, so time for polish and blogging has completely gone out the window.

However, having recently returned from a wonderful break in Tenerife I am back with a bang. Decided before I got there that I would indulge myself with some new polishes from brands that I can't get in the UK. All good so far, except I didn't realise how bloomin difficult it would be to find the things. All of the main perfume shops have unbranded polish and the usual Dior/Chanel/Lancome etc, but I was really after Essence and Catrice, and in the end I wasn't disappointed.

So, my purchases were...

7 Catrice beauties and from left to right they are...

600 ~After Eight
740 - King of Greens
400 - Blue Cara Ciao
C04 - Be Indieglow
350 - Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans
200 - From Dusk till Dawn
770 - Put Lavender on the Agenda
630 - Sing : Hey, Dirty Lilah!
420 - Dirty Berry

Then some lovelies from Essence

01 - Circus Confetti which appears to be a bit of a dupe for Models Own Ibiza Mix
03 - Hello Holo - a holographic multi coloured glitter
11 - Disco Disco - holographic glitter with holographic glitter squares
09 - Copper'ize Me! Copper/Red/Russet holographic glitter
01 - Purpulicious - holographic purple glitter
10 - Glorious Aquarius - multi sized holographic glitter with square glitter pieces

08 - Love potion - Copper magnetic nail polish
01 - hex hex! - Charcoal Grey magnetic nail polish

L to R
Ciate Bon Bon - Free with Marie Claire Magazine
DP Cosmetics green magnetic polish
Sinful Colours - Opal Glitter
Sinful Colours - Tokyo Glitter
Sinful Colours - Noelle
Sinful Colours - Daddys Girl ( this is a very deep purple with a glitter undercurrent, but doesn't photograph well at all)

L to R

Essence - 77 In Style
Essence - 56 Got a Secret
Essence - 78 Blue Addicted - blue/green glitter
Essence - 43 Wheres the party - a chrome looking colour shifter from green to purple

I cannot wait to get these little beauties on my fingers, just wish I had brought more!

EDITED

Well, I have had a bit of a bargain over the past couple of days, so I thought I would share it with you. I popped into our local town centre to Superdrug hopefully to get my hands on the new Barry M colour changing polish. But came across a sale on their Accessorize range. All of their metallic one coat chromes were half price! So, I helped myself to one of each on the basis that they would be good to stamp with.. here is a picture of the little darlings...

While I was there I also got my hands on the wonderful NYC Mint Macaroon and Lavendar Cupcake for £2.49, another 2 accesorize normal colours for £1.50 each, a colour changing Barry M ( the original intended purchase). I also was given a free Barry M polish in superdrug by the lovely lady in there, and my husband got me a technic seafoam!

Jubilee Nails.. poll!

Bit of a different post today. But I need opinions.

I have a friend who is lucky enough to be going to the Diamond Jubilee party at Buckingham Palace, and I am going to do her nails for her before she goes ( hopefully).

I plan on doing all the nails one colour, except for a few accent fingers. But the question is what accent to do...

So, opinions please...

Here is the full hand in sunlight

For comparison here is the hand in shade...

I will add I have only done these quickly today as a trial, so they will look far more polished when I am done.

Anyway, the choices are

A - Thumb - Hand painted stripes
B - Index finger - Drizzle on a white background
C - Middle finger - Red, White and Blue mixed glitter
D - Ring Finger - White with red and blue gems
E - Spots

Please vote in the poll or comment down below what you think
