A Few Days Away - Not So Much Joy

Sorry I have been away for a few days. Things have been manic family and work wise and it all got the better of me and the migraine I had been suffering from for a week or three exploded and made me exhausted. However, I was ahead with my nail paints, so I just need to catch up with my posting of them.

Firstly, here is my MSE nails of the week. We are on Metallic, and I decided to use one of my wonderful new Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's. It is called Bronze Ablaze, but I really loved using it. The consistency was excellent and it was opaque with one coat, although I did actually put two on because I am just so used doing it. Here are the wonderful pictures.

MSE Challenge - Week 5 - Blue

So it is already another week in the MSE challenge and I can't quite get over how time is flying.

Blue is a nice one for me as I have a choice of polishes, and can't wait to use them all.

Little Finger - Color Club - Hydrangea Kiss
Ring Finger - Miss Sporty - 456
Middle Finger - Sally Hansen -  Flash
Index Finger - No 7 - Poolside Blue
Thumb - No 7 - Betty Bloo

In addition to these lovely polishes I have managed to catalogue my nail varnish collection and added it to my blog. ( you should see a tab at the top) and I have added a tab for the nail varnishes I have loved

So, another personal challenge for myself is I am going to use ALL of my polishes before Christmas. On the inventory there are links to the blog posts I have put up with them in, so everyone can see.

So, at the moment I have about 200 polishes I need to get through, and my friend is bringing me a scary amount back from Spain for me...Does anyone else have masses of unused polishes, or is it just me?

MSE Nail Art Challenge - Week 3 - Green - Just Spotted a Turtle

So, for week three I am bringing out the big guns and just *had to* use my OPI Just Spotted a Lizard. But, to make it more interesting I have stamped it with a bit of a turtle shell pattern. I am quite impressed with the results, although once it was on Just Spotted a Lizard looked alot more gold than green on me. For the stamps I used Emerald City, a Matte from Revlon.

The Pinkest Yellow Challenge In The West

Well, where to start? I don't like yellow nails. I don't have the skin tone to carry it off, and I don't like the colour. I don't think I actually own a yellow item of clothing!

So, I decided the best thing I could do with this manicure is to make it something I would like. So I set out to make my nails like rhubarb and custard and mainly covered them with pink! However, I do have yellow feature nail and yellow tips on the pink ones.

All I can say is I am very glad that yellow is over! What do you think?

For added information I used Sally Hansen, Hard as Nails 610 Hard Lemonade and Colour Club pale pink which was unnamed in a set.

MSE Nail Challenge - week 2 - Orange

You would think I am all nail challenged out, and to be honest it was tempting to skip this one, but I didn't want to let down my lovely ladies over at MSE and not take proper part.

So here is my entry for week two.

Two new nail varnishes I have never used before. YAY

I used two/three coats on No7 Cheeky Chops for my base. It is a lovely colour and I had a few people comment at work about how well it it suited me, but it isn't that wonderful to apply and even though I had three coats on some fingers to stop the streakiness I could still see a bit of VNL ( Visible Nail Line) which I always think looks a bit naff. Maybe next time I will layer it over a similar colour, but one which is more solid to prevent it happening again.

Then, because I can't leave things alone I went for accent nails in Essence Special Topper Copperize Me. This is not a colour I would usually wear in glitter, but I thought it was proper lovely on. Trying to move myself from my comfort zone, so felt this did me proud.

Now, I am going to go and put something on my nails that I want to do for me. Who wants to bet it will take me ages to choose because I have had a week of just doing what I was told!

MSE Nail Art Challenge - 1st Week - Red Nails

Buoyed up with enthusiasm a few of us girls from the MSE nail polish addicts thread ( http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=3779621) decided to do our own little challenge. So, we are taking the 31 day challenge a little more leisurely at 1 challenge a week.

This week is red, so to do something different I decided to have a half shiny, half matte finish.

I started with a wonderful coat of Revlon Cherry Crush as it is such a rich red, then taped the middle of my fingers using french manicure stickers. Then, I painted everything below the line with Rimmell Matte finish. I am quite pleased with the result, but think it would have looked even better with a colour which showed the difference more. Maybe on top of a neon?

What do you think?
